If you are considering hypnosis to help you give up smoking, a couple of questions to ask yourself are: Am I giving up for myself, and no one else (eg a spouse, child, doctor's advice etc)? Have I reached a point where I am completely sick of the habit, and wish I wasn't doing it? Do I have any major stresses going on in my life at the moment? . The reason you must be quitting for YOU is that it is your decision, therefore it is something you want and YOU are willing to change. When clients wish to give up at the request or advice of others, the result could be compromised, as it is not their genuine desire. Many people know they should not be smoking, that it is an unhealthy, expensive habit, yet they enjoy it. If you are still enjoying smoking, this could also compromise the result. It is still possible, but for the BEST results (in my working experience) it is important that when you are lighting up a cigarette, you really, really wish you weren't. If you have any major stresses going on in your life at the moment and find yourself almost relying on cigarettes, this again COULD compromise your result.
